this is not our most informative video, i must agree. it was one of the very first vids we shot in 2007 right when youtube started to get popular. we will be re-shooting a whole new series of spa chemical instruction vids this spring – which will be much more professional and informative. thans for watching :o) dan

Chlorine very acid?…lol Dan, you should know better.

  • poolandspamoose says:

chlorine does tend to have a low ph (acidic) in and of itself. it is especially evident in hot tubs, more so than pools, because of the smaller amount of water involved and people tend to over-dose their spas with chlorine shock, thus pulling down the ph unneccessarily. we see that all the time. that is why i mentioned it. thanks for watching. dan

    Dan,
I think we are talking about two different things. You are correct when you say that customers who tend to overshock their pools will end up lowering the ph of their spa. And that is because they often use dichlor. Dichlor, as you know, is composed of chlorine and cya stabilizer. We know that its the acid in cya that will cause the drop in ph. Chlorine in of itself will not. When you used the term chlorine in your video, I interpreted it as it’s literal meaning. Sorry about the confusion.
